The "Call" arrives

We submitted our mission papers on December 4, 2012 after initially starting the process the previous February.  As we completed our mission papers and all the health information at that time, we learned that Byde had prostate cancer and we were delayed until he completed the 8 weeks of radiation therapy followed by a 3 month PSA test.  At that time it was determined that his PSA level had dropped to an acceptable level and we could continue with our application.

We were told by the Stake Clerk, who could see the application online, that the call "was in the mail" on December 12. As you can imagine, we were keeping a close eye on the mailbox everyday after that.  Finally about December 28 Byde called Salt Lake to ask if the "call" could have been lost only to find out that it really had been mailed on December 26.  We thought for sure that we would receive it the 28th but not to be.  Saturday the 29th came and went and still no call. Thank goodness it was Sunday and no mail so the path to the mailbox got a rest.  BUT on Monday December 31, about 6 pm the mailman delivered the large, white envelope.  As we had a New Year's day party with our family on Tuesday, January 1 we managed to wait one more day to open the call (that video is posted here) to learn that the call was to serve in the Salt Lake Family and Church History Church Headquarters Mission. We are excited for the opportunity we will have to serve in Salt Lake. We are now in the process of preparing our home to rent, evaluating our winter wardrobe, and with recent storms realize our "Valley of the Sun Clothes" will not suffice.

Mission Call Arrived

The official opening of the mission call! (We are both going to Salt Lake despite the reference made to Pam going to San Diego)
