Salt Lake Temple Lights

The Library was closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving so we had 2 days off. We had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with the Garretts, who also serve in our zone. We missed being with our family in Arizona but feel such gratitude for the opportunity to be able to serve a mission. We'll look forward to the holiday with them next year.

On Saturday we drove up Emigration Canyon to eat at little place called Ruth's Diner which is located in historic Emigration Canyon. "It is the second oldest operating restaurant in Utah and provides a rich history of great service and good food. The canyon location provides beautiful large creek side patios with spectacular views in the summer and a warm comfortable escape in the winter. Famous for its award-winning comfort food served at breakfast, brunch and dinner."

The biscuits they served were about 4 inches thick and so huge, flaky and good that there was little room left for our meal when it arrived.  If you're ever in Salt Lake City, Ruth's is definitely a place worth visiting.

Flat Stanley has been with us for over a week now and has been having some great adventures. We went with him and our good friend, Jo Latimer, to see the lights on Temple Square and he was so excited. He is anxious to return to Ohio so he can tell Jocie's class all about what he saw while he visited us in Salt Lake.

There are no words to describe how beautiful the Christmas lights are on Temple Square and pictures just don't do them justice. The lights were first turned on at the Nativity Scene and then the rest of Temple Square.  The place was packed there were so many people there to see the lights.

The pictures below were taken on Friday, November 29, which is the first night they turn on the lights on.  Some were taken at ground level and some from the Joseph Smith Building. As you can see, they are absolutely awesome!
